The supervising instructor is JEAN-PAUL GARCIA. With 17 years of surfing experience and 10 years experience in surf instruction, Jean-Paul uses his talent and passions for the sport to guide beginning surfers. Jp is the coach for the Santa Barbara High School surf team that has qualified for the States Invitational's every year since he has been with the team.  A local stand out longboarder, Sanuk & Sex Wax team rider, Jp Garcia brings his passion of surfing to the beach every day.  Jp placed 2nd last year longboarding in the Gold Coast Conference for the NSSA Gold Coast Conference and has qualified for the past three years for the NSSA Nationals. As co-founder of the SB SEALS Surfing School and Gold Coast Groms, a mentorship program for young surfers, Jean-Paul brings a wealth of experience to the Santa Barbara Surf Adventures Program.

GRAYSON NANCE is a native Santa Barbara surfer with over 10 years of surfing experience. He is currently a graduate of the San Marcos High School and attending SBCC. Grayson spent his early years as a participant of this camp, now a seasoned veteran, Grayson lends a firsthand perspective on working with kids and teaching that which he loves, surfing. His travels include Mexico, Hawaii, and several spots up and down the California coast. When Grayson is not surfing, you can find him hiking, fishing and playing volleyball.

SHANE ORR is a native of Santa Barbara County and has extensive knowledge of the surf spots and water safety. Shane is a regional team rider for Rusty and O'Neil. He is also the Captain of the SBHS surf team as well as a top competitor in the NSSA (National Scholastic Surfing Association). In 2007, Shane placed 1st in Men's shortboarding and Body Boarding division in the ISF (inter-Scholastic Surfing Federation).  Every year Shane spends a few weeks surfing Oahu's famed Pipeline and refining his shortboarding. Shane has been affiliated with camp for over 6 years and has led retreats to Mexico with the SB Seals Surf School as an instructor. His patience and level of ability make him an asset to this camp.

CAROLINE MURRAY  graduated 2004 with BA in Cultural Anthropology, minor in Exercise Science. Currently she is enrolled at Chapman University; pursuing teaching credentials in English and Spanish and MAT (Masters in the Art of Teaching) Caroline has been surfing for over 10 years and has worked in surf camps in Costa Rica and the SB Seals. Her surf travels include Mexico, Hawaii, Australia, Costa Rica and everything between Santa Barbara and San Diego. "I love working with student-athletes not only for our mutual appreciation for athletics but also to help students harness the drive they have in sports and direct it towards academic achievement and self-confidence.  I believe the same determination a student can have to charge a big wave can be useful in conquering a challenging assignment, and the subsequent achievements can feel equally rewarding."  Caroline's passions include traveling, teaching, and snowboarding. Caroline brings an enthusiastic and charismatic component to the program; this will be her third year with the SBSA.
